r conservation, so they need to find swift, safe and lasting solutions. The Kunstmuseum Luzern has been collecting artists\u2019 videos since the early days of that medium. Many of the works can scarcely be played today because the respective machines are not available or are defective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to the support of Helvetia above all the early works in this genre in our collection could be materially preserved and the data stored in an appropriate form. The Kunstmuseum Luzern has already been able to digitize a large part of its video collection. Agathe Jarcyk, an internationally famous specialist in the field of conservation of media art, has been commissioned with the task. This leads to large volumes of data and raises the question of their permanent storage and long-term protection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parallel to this, research on their genesis and presentation is being carried out. Thus Helvetia<\/a> and the Kunstmuseum Luzern are entering largely unknown territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
